Anti-drone System Disrupts Connectivity In Mohnyin
After several drone attacks by resistance forces, a government office in Mohnyin has installed a jamming device that has messed up the internet connection of residents in the town in Kachin State.
A woman who spoke to KNG on condition of anonymity said the WiFi she used to connect to has been unstable for a fortnight. The 50-year-old said she didn’t want to use the mobile data on her phone because it was too expensive.
A businessman, who also requested anonymity, said his mobile connection was only marginally better than connecting to a WiFi network. “I’ve tried to change my service provider but they’re all the same—I don’t know what to do.”
Since the jammer was installed to protect the General Administration Department (GAD) office, connectivity has been disrupted in Myoma, Oak Kyin, Ashay Su, Sein Yadana Mon and Nawng Suan wards in the town. To make matters worse, the telephone service is also down frequently.
In addition to GAD ‘s office, resistance groups have also sent armed drones to attack other government offices in Mohnyin in the past.
