Myitkyina Guesthouse Under Lockdown After Guest Tests Positive

A guesthouse in Kachin State’s capital city, Myitkyina, has been locked down after a police officer who stayed there tested positive for COVID-19.

The police officer booked a bed at the guesthouse before being transferred to Naypyitaw from N’Jang Yang Township. The officer tested positive on September 18 after arriving in Burma’s capital.

Than Win, general administration development officer for Myitkyina Township, said that 7 people who slept at Aye Chan Tha Guesthouse from September 16 to 20, as well as 7 staff, were placed in a quarantine facility. In addition, 3 police and 2 workers at the bus station are also in quarantine.

Aye Chan Tha guesthouse has been closed since September 23.

On Sept 25, there were 14 confirmed cases in Kachin State. Seven have been discharged from the hospital. Nationally, there were 8515 confirmed cases on September 25, while 155 people have died and 2381 recovered.
