Burma Army Launches Airstrikes On KIA In Mohnyin Township

The Burma Army attacked the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) with fighter jets in Tong Pin, Kachin State. A KIA officer told KNG that the BA carried out five attacks on Battalion 26 on 25 November.

“Two fighter planes attacked us around 1am. No one was wounded. I don’t know why they ordered the airstrike on us,” he told KNG, explaining that there had been no previous fighting around Inndawgyi Lake in Mohnyin Township.

However, according to local sources, this was the third strike on KIA Battalion 26 since the coup. On 14 November, the KIA had captured a camp BA in Hpakant Township. Fighting has been intense between KIA and BA in Kachin and Shan states since the army overthrew the government on 1 February.
