Bomb Blasts at Asia World Company Toll Gate in Muse

A bomb exploded at the Asia World Company’s toll gate in Muse, northern Shan State at 6:00 p.m. on May 11, according to local sources.

The toll gate charges vehicles traveling on the trade route from Burma to China; Muse is located on the Chinese border.

“We still don’t know who did it. The company has criticized People’s Militia Forces (PMFs) for collecting ‘tax,’ from the company,” a source close to the Mong Ko PMF told KNG.

Burma Army soldiers, police and PMF troops have all been stationed at the gate at various times.

Asia World is currently the company handling construction work on the Mandalay-Muse highway. The company is owned by Steven Law—who also goes by Lo Ping Zhong and Tun Myint Naing—the son of notorious drug lord Lo Hsing Han.
